American Red Cross Lifeguarding

The American Red Cross Blended Learning Lifeguarding course provides entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies in water of any depth and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over. Students will be required to complete assignments online, prior to coming to class, therefore there will be a strict registration deadline.

The American Red Cross Shallow Water Blended Learning Lifeguarding course provides entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies in water up to 5 feet deep and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over. Students will be required to complete assignments online, prior to coming to class, therefore there will be a strict registration deadline.

Provisional Lifeguarding Review Course (Web-Based and Classroom Based)

The Provisional Certificate Lifeguarding Review courses allow current American Red Cross Lifeguards (or those within the expired grace period dates below) to receive a provisional certificate after completing the online component of the Blended Learning course. The provisional certificate is valid for 120 days or until June 30, 2021, whichever comes first. Before the provisional certificate expires, the Lifeguard must complete the in-person skills portion of the Review course to earn the standard Lifeguard certification which is valid for 2 years. To qualify to participate in the Provisional Certificate Lifeguarding Review courses, the participant must either hold a current Red Cross Lifeguarding certificate or an expired Red Cross Lifeguarding certificate (expired between March 15, 2020 – June 30, 2021). Lifeguarding Instructors must verify qualification prior to enrolling participants in the online session.

This is an abbreviated version of the Lifeguarding Course in which participants will review and practice all water and land skills learned in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding class. Participants must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification at the time of class completion in order to participate.

This is an abbreviated version of the Lifeguarding Course in which participants will review and practice all water and land skills learned in the American Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding class. Participants must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or Shallow Water Lifeguarding Certificate at the time of class completion in order to participate.

Instructor Courses

This course allows lifeguarding instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Blended Learning, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Bloodborne Pathogens Training.

This in-person Instructor/Instructor Trainer review course is the required course for all Lifeguarding Instructors and Instructor Trainers must take every two years to maintain their certification.

Swimming Pool Operator Courses

This course is designed to provide the knowledge necessary to safely and efficiently manage and operate swimming pools and spas. While exact rules and regulations vary by county a Certified Pool Operator is required to be on site at all times.
